Blackboard Analytics Symposium: Call for Proposals

We invite all Blackboard clients to share how they are using data to support successful programs, tactics and strategies that have seen significant and measurable results. Emphasis is on how institutions are using Blackboard tools and services including Blackboard Intelligence, Blackboard Analytics for Learn and Blackboard Predict as well as native data capabilities in Blackboard Learn (including course reports, OpenDB and Caliper), OpenLMS or any other Blackboard product and/or service.

Presentation Formats

Presentations for this year’s event can be in one of three formats:

“5 in 5” Presentation – Presenters will have 5 minutes and a limit of 5 slides to present information and results from one high-impact learning analytics project / strategy / initiative from their institution. These will be engaging, high-impact, TED talk style presentations and will be professionally recorded for asynchronous viewing.  Watch this video from last year’s event for an example.

Breakout Session –25 minute talks on any topic related to higher education data strategy, implementation, or intervention. We recommend presentations that are 15-20 minutes in length, with 5-10 minutes for Q&A.  Breakout sessions will be divided into two tracks:

Poster – Posters will describe high-impact data-informed projects, strategies, or initiatives in progress. Individuals presenting in this format will be asked to generate two artefacts: (1) a poster and (2) a data sheet summarizing the project.  Blackboard will provide a flexible template for each artefact.  Presenters will not be required to stand by their posters. Instead, posters will be on prominent display for the duration of the symposium and will each include a QR code to direct viewers to the full data sheet for download in addition to presenter contact details for follow-up.

Possible Themes

The goal of the Blackboard Analytics Symposium is to scale innovation through the sharing of high impact evidence-based practices leveraging data across Blackboard’s entire portfolio of products and services.  Possible themes include (but are not limited to):
